Double Clubs Vs Single Clubs: A Totally Different Game
Aug 09, 2026Two hands on one club is strength.
One club in each hand is something else entirely.
Most people assume double club training is just single club, doubled. It's not.
When you split the weight into two independent objects, you lose the ability to rotate your way through the movement. Your shoulders have to do the work your torso used to do. One side has to anchor perfectly still while the other moves freely, then switch.
That's the real skill. Not lifting heavier, but stabilizing better.
This is why double 20s can feel harder than a single 40-pound club. You're not fighting gravity more. You're fighting your own structure—your grip, your elbows, your breathing, your left-right imbalances you never knew existed.
Master that, and you build strength that doesn't come from adding plates. It comes from controlling chaos.
In this video, Mark walks Sean through his first double club session— Inside circle, Outside circle, and Shield cast—exposing exactly where stability breaks down and how to rebuild it.
