3 Phases of Training
Progressive phases for any stage of athletism. Train for life.
PHASE I: Restore your body.
Restores movement, rebuilds structure, and helps you get out of pain so you can safely return to strength training.
PHASE I is for people who are:
- Living with chronic pain or movement limitations
- Returning from injury, illness, or long periods of deconditioning
- Afraid of movement because past training failed them
- Looking for a structured, long-term path forward
PHASE I restores standing structure without pain.
PHASE I is designed to:
- Restore movement
- Rebuild your body's natural structure
- Reduce and eliminate chronic pain
- Return your body to healthy, functional movement
- Restore standing structure
- Build a foundation for future strength training
PHASE I takes people from extreme deconditioning—or even a hospital bed— back to solid standing structure so fitness can be safely stacked on top.
The goal of PHASE I is to get you OUT of PHASE I, which is why we offer subscriptions for this phase.
We want you to graduate from your training and move on to more advanced programs—whether that's with us or somewhere else.
You're ready to move on when you can move comfortably without pain, feel stable in your body, and your PHASE I exercises begin to feel easy.
PHASE II: Build lasting strength.
Builds lasting strength through systematic, measurable training—the foundation you'll return to throughout your athletic life.
PHASE II is for people who:
- Have restored standing structure
- Are no longer in constant pain
- Want long-term strength progression
- Are ready for disciplined training
- Want to train systematically and measurably
- Are ready to bridge the gap between restoration and performance
YOU ARE NEVER DONE WITH PHASE II. It is not a phase you complete—it is the foundation you return to throughout your entire athletic career, even at the highest levels.
TRAIN ANYWHERE. PHASE II provides athlete-level training without requiring a commercial gym. Train at home, in your garage, outdoors, or while traveling.
PHASE II develops long-term athleticism through mathematical progression of fundamental human movement patterns. Progress is designed to continue for years—not weeks.
Primary goals:
- Build foundational strength
- Create measurable, long-term progress
- Develop athletic capacity
- Build movement quality before specialization
PHASE II develops the fundamental human movement patterns that every athlete relies on:
- Squat
- Deadlift / Swing
- Clean & Press
- Snatch
- Get-up
- Throwing patterns
These movements form the foundation of long-term athletic performance and can be progressively trained for years.
MATH-BASED TRAINING
Every workout is planned, measurable, and progressive. Objective improvements replace guesswork, creating consistent results over the long term.
WHY KETTLEBELLS & HEAVY CLUBS?
Wildman Athletica uses kettlebells instead of barbells to eliminate dependence on expensive gyms. Heavy clubs develop rotational strength and throwing patterns—essential movements that support lifelong athleticism.
You're ready to move on when you have been training for significant time, have mastered the basics and feel ready for a new challenge. You are never done with phase II.
You will return here when you go up in weight, or as maintenance, when life get's busy or you need a more simplified program.
PHASE III: Train for adventure.
Turns strength into freedom—using movement to prepare you for adventure, exploration, and whatever life throws your way.
FREE YOURSELF FROM THE GYM
PHASE III removes dependence on facilities and fixed schedules. Your training supports travel, competition, outdoor adventure, and real life instead of keeping you tied to a gym.
PHASE III is for people who:
- Have restored their body through PHASE I
- Have built a strong foundation through PHASE II
- Want strength to support experiences rather than routines
- Value preparedness over optimization
PHASE III assumes you:
- Move well
- Are structurally sound
- Have spent years building strong fundamentals
PHASE III is no longer about training for training's sake. You train so you can confidently say yes to opportunities, explore without hesitation, and be physically prepared for real life.
Apply strength to life. Train for freedom.
Training becomes the tool—not the goal. Workouts continually evolve so your body develops adaptability instead of becoming specialized for one narrow demand.
Primary goals:
- Be ready for anything
- Train beyond the gym
- Rediscover adventure through movement
- Develop adaptability in constantly changing environments
PHASE III is designed to continually grow. New workouts, programs, and challenges are added regularly to keep training fresh and intentionally non-repeating.
Your subscription supports ongoing program development while giving you continuous access to new training as it's released. The goal is to keep your body adapting instead of settling into predictable routines.
PHASE III training is intentionally non-repeating. Programs constantly change so your body develops broad preparedness, resilience, and mental flexibility instead of adapting to a single style of training.
TOOLS OF PHASE III
PHASE III primarily uses:
- Double kettlebells
- Double clubs
These tools allow fundamental movement patterns to be expressed under constantly changing demands while remaining portable enough to train anywhere.
BEYOND FUNDAMENTALS
What some training systems call "constant variation," PHASE III approaches as intentional chaos—developing adaptable athletes who can perform confidently in unpredictable situations both inside and outside the gym.

Our Community is:
A clan of misfits and black sheep. Freethinkers and rebels. Heroes of our own making.
We are movement lovers, nerds, and badasses– engineers and creatives driven to make the world a better place by building more competent people who have the freedom to do whatever they want with their lives.
We don't adhere to the norms of the fitness world. We question everything, simplify what's overcomplicated, and find a way when the obvious path does not exist. If we were told something was impossible, we didn’t accept that.
You are a part of this - The injured caretaker who refuses to stay down, the weekend warrior who wants to keep going, the busy professional who needs training that works in the real world.

About Mark Wildman
After years of training to be an aerialist– at age 28 Mark suffered a severe knee injury by falling from 25 feet. He destroyed his PCL , LCL, tendons and meniscus. He was told by the doctors he would never be able to run, lift weights, do martial art or do aerial again. After three surgeries over 2 years, didn’t walk for 6 months, did years of physical therapy. No one could rebuild him.
So he rebuilt himself. Using bodyweight, heavy clubs and kettlebells he was able to reengineer his structure, breathing, and movement to be able to do all the things he was told he would never be able to do again. Run, lift weights, practice martial arts and do aerial.
No path to recovery? "who decided that"!
"Rebuilding is horrible and painful– but 99% of mornings, I wake up completely pain free. I used this knowledge to become a personal trainer for high level athletes and A-List actors." -Wildman
- Personal trainer for A list actors and high level athletes for over 20 years.
- Degree in Biochemical Engineering.
- Published research scientist.
- Holds seminars & retreats globally for over 20 years.
